GBA SP Battery Cover, help pls. That square nut needs to be inside the shell. There is a little space for it to sit. You will have you open it back up again. The square nut is what the battery cover screw actually screws into. The cheap replacement screws + cheap drivers they sometimes send with the shell kits are pretty terrible. If you aren't

I’ve been extremely curious about this since I first saw it teased, as I always felt a vertically-oriented GBA might have felt more comfortable for playing both GBA games, as well as original GB + GBC. The Game Boy Micro is irrelevant to this (though I do have a battery mod for that which will be getting a new video shortly). If you want something I do genuinely recommend ( aside from the battery mod I made ), Helder makes some really nice batteries that tested slightly higher capacity than these R6 cells but also actually fit in the console.
Drill it out carefully (without damaging the plastic) and you'll be able to replace the screw. I finally removed the screw. After loosening it a bit with a flathead screwdriver, I was able to turn it with the philips skrewdriver and a little pressure. Now I need a brand new battery and a replacement screw.
